I started my work on August 15th. I came to work for ThePromise because I feel that small children must receive love and help even more than usual if they haven't parents. Although I am a qualified History and English teacher I have recently studied emotional development of children, and I have wanted to work with small children assisting in their holistic development for a long time; the work with ThePromise will enable me to do this.</div> <bR> <div> I have learned a lot of information about ThePromise and read many documents about ThePromise and different books about disability. I watched ThePromise DVD about Sarah and Iona's work at the baby home summer camp and was inspired to try to help children with special needs.</div> <bR> <div> Karen has organised visits to other organizations for disabled children in Ryazan and Moscow and we have met with useful people for our work with ThePromise. We also visited one hospital and  compared rehabilitation in Russia and the United Kingdom.</div> <bR> <div> Karen has given me very important talks about disability and disabled children and the problems that their families have. I enjoyed watching a DVD showing Sarah's daughter Natasha receiving the Portage system, and I am excited about learning more and trying Portage with the children at the baby home. I want to master the Portage method because the Portage system is an excellent future system to help disabled children in my country.</div> <bR> <div> I eagerly await the Portage course and programme for the Portage workers, starting at the beginning of September.
