ThePromise was set up in 2003 to support children with disabilities in Russia,
both in the community and within the current orphanage system.

Yelatma Project
Our project for older disabled children in Yelatma has been posted as part of the April 2009 GlobalGiving.co.uk Project Challenge.

Please take a moment to look at the web page and help us provide a better quality of life for these children.

Promising Children a Future Ellie's hand

Our pioneering work focuses on training and supporting a team of Portage workers in two orphanages in the Ryazan region of Russia and another team that works with families with disabled children in their own homes in Ryazan city.

Portage is a system of one to one early childhood education used successfully with disabled children in many parts of the world.

The success of this model of early intervention in Ryazan has been breathtaking.

ThePromise's primary function is to act as a catalyst for change, by setting standards in good practice, raising awareness of the rights and needs of disabled children and creating sustainable models of development.
